kinda of a poorly edited trailer but hey the trailer for the little prince was bad as well and that movie was great, the only other potential issue is that this movie seems like a mixture of big hero 6 and the 2009 astro boy movie

This movie reminds me a lot of big hero 6, much of the same plot, but something I didn't really like is how 7723 was so... humanized. Yeah I know it's the point, but in the beginning of the movie we see him act more robot-like. Robots can't pick up expressions, read between the lines or see the hidden meanings in what humans say. Even very early on 7723 demonstrated characteristics that were way too human, like trying to hide things from her, acting on his own like he had actual emotions, without having that many interactions with Mai yet, and that struck me as odd. At least Baymax remained robot-like for the entire movie, and they even used this for humor, which was well done.


One thing I do think this movie did better than big hero 6 was the ending. (SPOILERS) in big hero 6 Baymax sacrifices himself to save Hiro and it's very sad and emotional because Baymax, Hiro's best friend and the last thing he had left from his brother, is now lost forever. But wait, he's not. Because they decided to pull a deus-ex-machina and make Baymax's memories miraculously survive and make him come back to life, thus making the entire emotional moment and scenes completely pointless.


In next gen they never pulled any deus-ex-machina to make 7723 magically remember Mai again (though I was kind of expecting it to, it surprised me). Mai then accepts what happened and begins to heal along with him in a true new beginning, reinforcing what was said in the entire movie about the importance of connections and memories. It still ended up being a happy ending (and a way more realistic one) and it especially speaks out to kids who, like Mai, have lost someone and realize there is no going back, there is no deus-ex-machina, but that doesn't mean they can't heal and move on.
