I hate that they didn't show who her father actually was. Mitch was evil and abused Amy when she was fragile and vulnerable, she was dying and he forced her to perform.

The Romanization of Blake made me feel uncomfortable as well. The narrative made it seem like he was Amy's one and only love, when she was dating Reg Traviss at the time of her death, with the two planning to marry, and start a family.

1. There was not enough criticism of the press that taunted and harassed Amy, there was only criticism of paparazzi, not the journalists who published the shit about her. That’s probably because those same publications that wrote headlines like “Amy on crack” are the ones that are going to be reviewing the film.

2. The death scene was awful. If you knew nothing about her, you’d assume based on the scene that she died because of Blake moving on and having a child. That wasn’t true. That may have been a factor but not the sole reason as to why she relapsed into drinking alcohol again.

My favourite part of the biopic was the close bond shared between Amy and her nana. It brought much needed heartwarming moments into an otherwise bleak storyline.

As an Amy fan the saddest thing about this film is that not only do we not get to hear Amy’s unique & captivating voice people who don’t know better are going to walk away believing the many inaccuracies throughout it.

Seeing them romanticising Blake made my stomach turn. Throughout the whole movie I was asking myself "are they really attempting to make Amy seem more abusive in this relationship here?"

Romantic obsession is a result of childhood trauma- particularly neglect and abandonment issues. I watched the Amy documentary on HBO and got a really negative impression of Amy’s dad. When such young adults have substance abuse issues so early in life it always makes me wonder what role the parents played in bringing that out in their kid.

I appreciate Abela doing all the singing. When acting, especially portraying a real person, you need to be who you're portraying as much as possible. To be them in a scene then cut to lip syncing can seperate you from the character making you feel like your cosplaying someone instead of being someone which is what you need for something like this.

I wasn’t expecting to like it but ended up loving it. It’s no small task playing Amy but the actress did an incredible job in my opinion.

I personally felt like the made Amy's entire existence tied to Blake. She did her whole album based off of him, got sober because he did, OD and died because she heard about his news. I obviously never really knew Amy, but I'd like to think Blake didn't have such an effect on her.

As rewritten as it was, I cried a little, and sang along to Back to Black and Rehab.

The first 30 minutes (or so) were awesome to watch.
After that, it started jumping around like crazy. Even introducing people (e.g. her flatmate) that we never saw again.

Unpopular opinion: Lady Gaga would have been an excellent choice to play Amy Winehouse. Her label made her dye her hair blonde to begin with because they looked so much alike.

I think the biggest thing the film misses is that for a good portian, it felt like there was only three people in the movie. Her friends weren't shown, the hangers on, management. Her band was shown barely. It was so odd.

I think we need to remember that the film is only 2 hours so it can't show all her close moments with her friends, all her times going to rehab or doing drugs so I can understand why those parts don't feature as much. As for Blake, idk about others watching, but I felt that he was portrayed in a very negative light- he manipulated her, used her when she was famous, was always keeping one foot out the door...how could you watch this and think he was being treated in a sympathetic light is beyond me! The only person who was portrayed in a sympathetic light was her dad, who shouldn't have been- he obviously helped with the film so they couldn't show how manipulative he really was but really they shouldn't have collaborated with him and shown a more truthful image of him. As for the Blake focus, it makes sense considering this film centers around her Back to Black album which is about him.

Amy’s story would have worked better as a miniseries. Don't get me wrong, Marisa and Jack did well as Amy and Blake respectively despite the lackluster material. Similar to Bob Marley, they both deserve better biopics, preferably miniseries.

wish they put more into her talent and her gift with words .. her lyrics are funny and loaded with sarcasm but from the heart .. a true poet .... she is maybe the only artist that still to this day makes me sad from her passing ... just wish the movie had more detail in her as a person, a woman, an artist and a poet ... she was so much more than a few hit songs and an addiction problem ...

Overall, I did enjoy the film. Perhaps too much time was spent regarding her turbulent relationship with Blake. Still, he was a huge part of her life. I would have loved to have seen more about the time she was not using drugs towards the end of her life. She was a one-of-a-kind talent! RIP lovely Amy.
