ABOUT SANFORD AND SON:
The highest-rated half-hour series in NBC history at the time, Sanford and Son stars Redd Foxx as the cantankerous sexagenarian Fred Sanford and Demond Wilson as his son Lamont, also his business partner in the family junk-dealing business. To prevent his son from leaving home, and bent on having things his own way in general, Fred often calls upon such ruses as fake heart attacks or phony back ailments. Lamont usually sees through these subterfuges, but because he loves his father, he lets him think he's getting his way.

The Fred VS Aunt Esther dynamic was always funny, but I especially loved how Lamont loved his aunt and always respected and tried to help her.

How many of us grew up sitting in a living room with dad in tears watching this ? Feel like shows like this bring us all back to simpler times

Omg when Fred said Esther looked like Bambis father, I fell off my bed laughing. 😆🤣😂 I loved this show. It never gets old.

In life, they actually both loved one another dearly. I'll never forget seeing LaWanda Page entering the funeral home when Redd Foxx passed, she was inconsolable, and people were literally dragging her into the building as she sobbed uncontrollably.

She always said that if it weren't for Redd Foxx, she would've never been in show business, and she felt extreme gratitude for him opening doors for her. May both of their souls R.I.P. for an eternity...🙏🏼...

This show made me laugh when I was a kid and it still makes me laugh today 45 years later.

Redd went to bat for LeWanda. He told the network, “You don’t hire her and I walk.” That’s a true friend.

The fact that Redd and LaWanda were great friends in real life made Fred and Esther even funnier.

Fred and Esther are those two you could watch every day nonstop, so hilarious and awesome. They both influenced George Jefferson & Florence, Al Bundy & Marcy Darcy, and also yours truly, Martin & Pam

Greatest show of all time!

You can tell they're adlibbing and roasting each other on the spot. That's real comedy

The chemistry between Redd and LeWanda was unmatched. This show wouldn’t have been as hilarious without them two firing off at each other.

Redd Foxx and LaWanda page attended elementary school together in St. Louis. Foxx had her back when the producers of Sanford and Son didn't have confidence in her while she also lacked confidence in herself initially. That's a good look on his part. RIP to both...❤

The wince on his face before he said, "somebody better call the zoo". He really tried to say something nice but it was too strong for him 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. One of the greatest shows of my childhood
