Modern Olympics have almost nothing to do with sport. It’s sole purpose now is as an advertising vehicle and endorsement contract deals.Waste of tax payer dollars.

He is spot on when he states that the Olympics have been thoroughly corrupted by the flood of filthy rich professional celebrity athletes by "some" countries, especially in the example sports he names. And, yes, it is entirely predicated upon following the very Soviet example that the "free" and democratic world rightfully reviled so vociferously, that was the entire bloody argument for allowing professionals to take over in the first place. He is oddly tepid on that incontrovertible point.

That insidious practice should have ended before it ever began in '92, as soon as the Soviet Union ceased to exist. But by then entire cadres of big-money, big-power interests had slithered their way into the IOC drivers' seats, and the Brundage was gone. Every pro who so willfully and publicly stomped on the honest Olympic athletes they greedily replaced in '92 was a soulless, greedy, gutless sellout, to put it mildly..
