Since the spike of viewership on this snippet and as someone who has been searching trying to find this since it was first posted in 2021 I wanted to give my thoughts on EKT.
When I first heard this snippet it immediately reminded me of Savage Garden and Culture Clubs lead singers but as time went on I personally have ruled out it being any famous artist because if it was someone who knows them personally would have likely spoken out.
I also thought this could have been another great band "Scritti Politti" because even though they had a hit they still are not well known, but I feel like they are known enough that if they made EKT someone whether a family member, friend, etc would have heard this and spoken out by now. I think it's almost certain that the band behind EKT went under the radar and are super obscure with 0 hit songs.
I also think if the TV thing is true that this was either featured on a show like MTV Basement tapes (They would post obscure bands music videos)
or a not well known TV Show/Movie. There are tons of movies that are not super popular but have well produced songs usually by semi obscure artists. for example the songs
Out Of The Darkness by tony sciuto featured in All American Murder and
Bump in the Night by Steel Breeze featured in witchboard.
which both of those were just examples and its likely if this is from some film the film is much
more obscure
so yeah those are my thoughts and i'd like to hear everyone else's

Both the voice & the style remind me VERY MUCH of the theme to the 1991 TV series "Step By Step." A TV series I don't remember watching at all with a theme I haven't thought about in decades, until I heard this song.
But it also reminds me very much of the theme to the 1987 "Full House" series.

Hello. I am having difficulty identifying a certain song. I know I've heard it when I was a child in the 80s or early 90s. I heard it at a Burlington's in 2021, and then I heard it at a Giant food store in 2022. The song seems like it would be considered 80s synth-pop. The vocalist is a white male. I only have partial lyrics which would be in the chorus. The chorus goes something like this: It'll be the last time to get with you, ONE LAST TIME TO CATCH THIS FIRE. The part which is in all caps is the part I'm most certain about. Can you help me identify this song?
