At least nine dead after tropical cyclone Kompasu wreaks havoc across Philippines

Dozens of people have been killed as wild weather wreaks havoc across the region. China has been picking up the pieces from days of record floods, while a powerful storm is battering the northern Philippines. Tropical storm Kompasu has killed at least nine people as heavy rains trigger floods and landslides. Around a dozen people are missing. Hong Kong is also bracing for impact as the storm heads west. One of the highest typhoon warning signals has been raised. School classes have been cancelled and COVID-19 vaccination centres shut.
