Ponding water: If the roof is not sloped properly, water may accumulate and form puddles or ponds. This can lead to leaks and other damage, and it may not be possible to coat the roof until the underlying issue is addressed.

Mold or mildew: If the roof is not properly maintained, mold or mildew may start to grow on the surface. If the growth is extensive or has penetrated the surface of the membrane, it may not be possible to coat the roof with a roof coating.
