Dr. Vikram Patel is a Professor in the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at HMS and is a co-founder of Sangath, an Indian NGO which received the MacArthur Foundation’s International Prize for Creative and Effective Institutions and the WHO Public Health Champion of India award. His work plays a central role in the development of global mental health and focuses on addressing mental health needs in low- and middle-income countries as well as low-resource settings of high-income countries.
Dr. Archana Basu is a Psychologist and Instructor in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, at Massachusetts General Hospital/ Harvard Medical School and a Research Scientist in the Department of Epidemiology at Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. Dr. Basu conducts research using a developmental life course approach to understand (1) how trauma and protective factors shape children’s health and development and (2) common mechanisms (e.g., stress or immune system functioning) underlying both mental and physical health outcomes.
Dr. Edwina Kinchington is a teacher at the Pittsburgh Science and Technology Academy in the city of Pittsburgh, PA. DrK worked in the biomedical field studying experimental cancer therapeutics for 18 years before becoming a secondary education teacher. She is passionate about raising awareness of mental health issues among teens. She sponsors a group called Stand Together in Pittsburgh that wants to help decrease the stigma of a mental health diagnosis through education and advocacy.
Allheim Devan-Bey is a junior at Pittsburgh Science and Technology Academy. He is the co-president of Stand Together Club and USO Swim captain.
Nicolette Boardman is a junior at Pittsburgh Science and Technology Academy and co-president of Stand Together Club. Boardman also serves as a student representative for the Pittsburgh Public School District's Superintendent's Student Advisory Council.
