Given the Grizzly's size, and heavy coat, I have a feeling the heat would absolutely kill them. They're built for colder climate.

A Black Bear might be a different story, given that they can be found in a variety of states throughout the U.S, including humid states like Florida and Louisiana.

It has happened before with the Atlas bear. Although they were significantly smaller than their northern cousins, they survived as recently as the mid 19th century.

They may have difficulty adjusting to the climate, but if they can manage to adapt, they could probably survive there.

The Atlas bear was Africa's only native bear species that survived into modern times. Once inhabiting the Atlas Mountains and neighbouring areas, from Morocco to Libya, the animal is now thought to be extinct. The Atlas bear was brownish-black in colour and lacked a white mark on the muzzle.

I almost always enjoy these. This one has too much repetition as in repeating the same facts over and over repetitively, as in repeating essentially the same thing, over and over. I still give it a Like, because your stuff is always very good.

Each animal adapts in their own way through years of evolution. The Bear could have survived in Africa, but would look significantly different than either a Grizzly or Polar bear.

Bears and lions are actually good friends they just distance eachother so they don’t cause problems with each others ecosystems. How nice of them! :>

Honestly it depends on the species. The smaller, tropical ones might stand a chance, though I don't have high hopes for brown bears. Yeah, their second only to polar bears when it comes to the largest terrestrial predator, but then again, they're solitary, whereas their competition is not.

Also, I personally don't count their ability to survive in North Africa. The climate there is not far from that of Europe's. When you think of Africa, you think of what is south of the Sahara, which is a completely different world. Again, this is just my impression. Feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken.

Never underestimate an animals ability to adapt. The will to survive is a very powerful thing.

Bears would really struggle in Africa. The main reason is because of the climate as they mostly live in the tundra.

If you took a bear that lives in a desert and put in a cooler part of Africa, they could probably manage.

Granted, they would need to be in significant enough numbers that they could make mistakes and live to learn from them.

Bears are pretty adaptable animals, being omnivores nd their large size gives a good advantage in terms of survival. They would have tough competition in Africa from lions and hyenas probably, but they could probably manage to survive in the niche of a large scavenger/omnivore many bears actually get the majority of their diet from plant material and insects (which there are no shortage of esepcially in Africa) and they are large enough to chase off smaller predators off of kills. They could easily fend off a leopard or cheetah from their kills if they wanted to. Besides that I think a huge obstacle for them would be successfully raising young, since with the abundance of large predators and the bear's long reproduction time their offspring may be killed long before they reach adulthood. People bring up bears would overheat, but I'm assuming in this scenario that the bear is adapted for the African climate, and there are currently living bear species that live in tropical climates like the sun bear.

The mountains and jungles in central and southern Africa will suit the moon, sloth and black bear. The brown bear could survive the atlas region. They could not survive the Savannah as stated in the video. But there is more in Africa. Polar bear would just die from heat and lack of camouflage.

Obviously, they can survive in Africa. At one time, not too long ago, North Africa was the home of the Atlas brown bear. And I think that extinct species of bear, notably the colossal Agriotherium africanum, have happily made their home in Africa during prehistoric times

It would be interesting to see them face Lion Prides, Hyena Clans, Crocs at the watering holes, Cape Buffalos, and any other strength in number scenarios.
They would have difficulty adapting to the climate and and handling the big group of predators, but they would definitely show a resistance unlike anything else!

I recently found your channel and I gotta say I really like your voice and the flow on how you talk, not really an animal content watcher but I certainly watch yours, great job man

One mention is the herbivories, in NA the bear is about equal in size to many herbivories, but in africa rhinos are large, very powerful and can run as a fast as a griz. Also not to mention the biggest of all elephants. Then the carnivores, hyenas would be a serious threat since unlike lions, bears are solitary.

It's weird imagining a lion, hyena, or croc killing a bear because you simply just don't think they can particularly when talking about an adult bear.

Yes they can

Btw bears used to live in north africa

They would adapt and lose that excess fur through generations of evolution and transform into a more slender and atletic breed( assuming the animals in africa are much harder to catch) which would be more terrifying than any lion
