Hold a barbell across your back, using an overhand grip. Your feet should be slightly wider than shoulder- width apart. Keep your head up and chest high, push your hips back, bend your knees, and lower your body until your thighs are about parallel with
the floor. Explosively jump as high as you can. Softly land, squat and jump again.

Have been doing this every week for years and holy shit my legs and calves are huge now. I left squat machine ages ago.

Nice demo - What would you say about how much weight I should use? Lightweight vs Heavy - I am thinking 75# - 95# and 115# - 135# - Would this be good with dumbbells?

Today I saw a girl do this exercise at my gym, but when she jumped the bar went higher than her body and so it landed on her back every time she jumped and she jumped to straight position instead of back into squat position. There is no way she is doing it right.

Why is it when I ask any strength or fitness organisation or channel about jump squats for weightlifting all I get is a wall of silence?
Why is it such a mysterious subject?
Why is it that no one ever talks about it?
Why is there only 30sec clips of it all over YouTube with hardly any speech/teaching whatsoever?
Is it an amazing training tool that top coaches don't want to reveal? Or is it utterly useless so no one bothers with it?
