Giyuu's backstory was really sad. After all, he lost everyone, he cared about most, so he blamed himself for their deaths cause of the situation and didn't think he deserved to be a Hashira. I honestly think he did deserve to be a Hashira with all his knowledge about water breathing after all, he developed the 11th form which shows just how strong he is. It's sad to see him thinking less of himself and the other characters talking about him in bad ways because they just don't know what he means. (Specifically, Sanemi and Obanai.)
