Master Papa. Let me be honest and say that I am a pretty solid rhythm player taught by yourself and Marty Schweetheart. Thank You.
I have my Pentatonic positions down backwards and forwards. I played for a buddy the other night. I have been frustrated for years with not being able to produce melodic lead. After playing for about two minutes my buddy broke down my problem.
He asked if I realized that I am playing only two notes per string while riffing. I didn’t notice. So now I am focusing on what the shapes look like overlapped and I am forcing myself to play 3 different notes per string no matter what I am creating. It has opened up some extended visualization and note pairings that don’t sound as stale as my two note stuff has sounded for ever. Just thought I would share and offer you the opportunity to create a lesson or two around some 3 note per string patterns or 4 note or ...whatever.
