Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo Launches Americas RISE for Health Panama 2023

Secretary Raimondo Remarks: Welcome to the first meeting of Americas RISE for Health, a U.S. Department of Commerce-sponsored forum supported by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

This first-of-its-kind effort will focus the region’s governments, civil society, and private sectors on opportunities to build resilient, inclusive, sustainable, and equitable health economies and ecosystems.

Americas RISE will complement the U.S. Department of State’s Economy and Health Dialogue of the Americas.

Through these mechanisms, the Biden Administration is working to build an inclusive health environment and bolster economic resilience and investment opportunities across the hemisphere.
As we learned during the COVID-19 pandemic, collaboration between governments, the private sector, and civil society is critical to ensuring that we’re prepared to face the challenges of the future.
We have a series of conversations planned as part of Americas RISE, focused on our six pillars:
building resilient supply chains across the hemisphere;
enabling solutions that make healthcare more accessible, affordable, and scalable;
building more just and equitable health systems;
accelerating regulatory improvements;
reducing trade and investment barriers to health financing;
and creating ethical environments so health economies can thrive.

By promoting partnerships between public, private, and civil society, Americas RISE has the potential to achieve enormous health benefits for the region.

With this meeting, we’re opening a new chapter in public-private partnership to strengthen healthcare systems across the hemisphere in deeper and wider ways than ever envisioned, based on new concepts of inclusivity and equity.

Together, we’ll create more resilient, sustainable, and equitable health economies for all citizens in the Americas.
