The story of David and Goliath in 1 Samuel 17 may have been lifted from a little-known warrior named Elhanan. The story of Elhanan is preserved in 2 Samuel 19. So why does Samuel contain two stories of a hero slaying a Philistine giant named Goliath? Find out in this video. We also cover Goliath's height. How tall was Goliath? Did Elhanan actually defeat the brother of Goliath? Why did the Chronicler change Goliath to Goliath's brother?

Who Killed Goliath? Who Truly Killed Goliath, David or Lahmi? A MISTAKE IN THE BIBLE? (Who killed Goliath?) How Tall was the Philistine Giant Goliath? Cubits Explained. The Truth About David And Goliath, This is How Tall Goliath REALLY Was

Thanks again, Lachlan. I know sometimes you have to re-upload videos.

I really enjoyed the conversation you had with Paul. I definitely subscribed to him.

Having Paul **Davidson** cancelling David's famous feat makes it wonderful family drama. Good luck in the succession war, Davidson! (Could not resist, but am not ashamed.)

David not only stole Uriah's wife, but also Elhanan's merit.

One nit.
Goliath is described in great detail. In the story he is a 10th century Philistine.

He is described wearing the amour of an 8th/7th century Greek Hoplite.

New Revised Standard Version? This version has strayed further from the original text of KJV or NKJV. Here lies the problem.

Other versions say “the brother of Goliath.”

Wow. I respect that you have made your opinions, but you are taking a huge leap to say that David didn't kill Goliath. I see you have challenged a bible reader to think deeper on these things with the different verses. That's fine, but you have to compare scripture with scripture to get a complete understanding. Spreading this information gives me the impression you don't have faith in the GOD's word. If I am wrong please correct me. We read in 1 Samuel 17: 2 David killed Goliath in the "Valley of Elah" Then in 2 Samuel 21:19 We see Elhanan was fighting in Gob and killed what we are told is Goliath. Well later in 1 Chronicles 20:5 We are told that Elhanan killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath. I think this additional verse and others should be included to make any conclusions. Also see Samuel 21:9 where again we are told David kills Goliath the Philistine. My thought is when we look at the Bible as a whole we see a bigger picture and comparing just two verses doesn't give us a clear answer. I don't claim to know answer (although I have my thoughts), but to me it's clear these are not the same Goliath and David did indeed kill Goliath as we are told in 1 Samuel 17.

Sorry for the lecture but, although I like analysis of the Bible, when I consider the huge effort made with the King James Version by those scholars utilising Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek and Latin texts, I think twice before jumping to any revisions. The KJV says Elhanan killed the brother of Goliath, as explained, but I notice the _New Standard Revised Version_ (1989) passage had to be used which says Elhanan killed Goliath. My money is on the older text from more pious times.

For example, I was introduced to the New World Translation Bible by Jehovah's Witnesses. Noting its American origin, I analysed it to see whether it was tainted by Racism. I searched the word 'Ethiopia' and discovered that whenever there are negative references to Ethiopia e.g. 2 Chr 14.12 _'So the LORD smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled', _ you will see 'Ethiopia', but whenever there are positive references e.g. Num 12.1 _'And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman', _ Ethiopia is changed to 'Cush.' When the JW told me Ethiopia and Cush mean the same thing, I replied "If they mean the same thing, _why change it?"_ Even _that_ passage is changed to Moses _took_ (not married) a Cushite wife. The NSRV makes similar amendments to the NWT.

I don't believe I must seek out the original texts to know The Bible. The hard work has already been done. I believe the root of Bible analysis is to cause doubt as to its value and thus weaken belief, hence reference to the authors changing texts to accord with myths, but such are the times. Nonetheless, _'Wisdom is justified of all her children.'_

David killed Goliath. The word "brother" is removed in modern bibles such as the NIV. This is what happens when "scholars" and "critics" apply "higher criticism" to the Word of God...

You know that those two goliaths were different. They were from the same people that were very large. They were not the same person.

I don’t believe there are errors in the Bible so there has to be an explanation.
