Alfred is the stiff dad that tries to keep you out trouble. Dropping all kinds of wisdom and disapproving glances.

Lucius is the cool uncle that knows that you are going to get into trouble anyway. He let's you shoot guns or drink at his place.

I liked how The Batmobile, Bat Pod and The Bat all had a natural progression in being introduced. He upgraded the Tumbler to be remote control because of him needingGorden to drive it in Begins. He likely started work on The Bat because of the situation he dealt with in Hong Kong trying to grabbed Lau. While the Batpod was simply a extension of the Tumbler. He only made these devices because he NEEDED them and because he learned from previous encounters. They weren't just for the hell of it.
