Apple just announced some MASSIVE new features coming in WatchOS 10 - here are a few you need know about! ⌚️👀

MANY apps are getting a full redesign with a focus on full-screen graphics and information which will look especially nice on the larger screens like the Apple Watch ultra

Every watch face will have access to widget/live activity type information by simply scrolling with the crown

Fun new watch faces such as the Snoopy and Woodstock face will be coming which feature interactive elements and designs

Several workouts such as Cycling and Hiking receive major updates which will bring things like cadence and power tracking, or trailhead information to the watch without needing to use third party apps

Still have to use Work Outdoors given you still can’t see maps over your activity. Why they are adding these as separate apps idk. Just combine them all into one like EVERY other app.

I’ve liked but not loved my Apple Watch the past 8 years because the right bits of information aren’t glanceable quickly. The capability is there, but what is surfaced to the watch face at any given time is often limited and basically has to be planned ahead via complication layout. You only get X number of complication slots to work with, and Apple doesn’t make it any easier by splitting up apps that are 1 app on the iPhone! Find My is split into 3, each clock function is its own icon, etc.

At least watchOS 10 surfaces large-format bits of data (a scroll away) and gives you quick access to more complications, especially beneficial for the cleaner Watch faces.

Still I wish holding down one app icon could pop out all its functions like the tabs on a iPhone app. A generic clock icon for example, that pops up choices for stopwatch, timer, world clock.

It seems like Apple is starting to rethink the Watch interface, perhaps as hardware limitations (memory, display size, processor power) that drove watchOS 1 UI decisions are fading away? Eg switching from black to color backgrounds as well.

i wish the widgets werent accesible via the digital crown cause then watch faces that react to the digital crown turning such as wayfinder with dark mode wouldnt work as well
