How the Minnesota Timberwolves Completed the Hardest Rebuild in NBA History

The Minnesota Timberwolves. A Team established in the 1989 Offseason joining the Miami Heat in the NBA is a Franchise with very little success. But when they drafted High School Standout Kevin Garnett, their trajectory as a franchise changed almost overnight. A 1x MVP, 10x All Star, 8x All NBA Player, and 8x All Defensive member as a Timberwolf. But even in his time in Minnesota, the Wolves only made it to 1 Western Conference Finals, and been first round outs in EVERY year before that. So after 3 more years of no playoff appearances and KG being north of 30. The Twolves had to make a very hard decision that KG didn’t even want, having to trade what some call one of the best PFs in NBA History to the Boston Celtics on July 31st, 2007. And despite the HUGE haul they received from the Celtics, the many years of tanking, and the MANY early first round picks used, the Timberwolves have only made the playoffs 4 times, created only 2 All Stars, and been through 9 coaches. But as we know, the Timberwolves just created their 2nd best record in Franchise History and have a new Franchise Leader in Anthony Edwards who will be the new version of KG for the Franchise. Well that is the topic of today’s deepdive to find out just how the Minnesota Timberwolves took 17 seasons to truly rebuild after the Kevin Garnett Trade and now being in the place they are with Anthony Edwards, Karl Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert.

My hat's off to you Timberwolves fans. You guys are very loyal to have stuck around that team, even when they were losing. I'm a Blazer fan so I feel your pain.

It's weird to see that KAT is the final piece of Flip's career... KAT has his ups and downs but still rooting for him to get that chip with the Wolves. It was a good time to see KG back, Flip mending fences between him and Glen, and then it all fell apart and once again in dark times.

...and now a guy called Antman came along.... can only hope.

As someone born and raised in Minneapolis I’ve been a Timberwolves fan since I could comprehend basketball which was around 2006-7 when I was 6 years old and it’s been a tough ride. We made it to the conference finals this year and although we lost the future is truly looking bright and I believe we might be able to pull off a championship sometime in the near future and that is really exciting. #WOLVESBACK 🐺

The timberwolves let Ernie Grunfied off the hook with that Johnny Flynn selection. Coulda had an all time disaster trade right hit there
