Cause they’re boiled in the volcano where the gorons from Zelda live. But obtaining one is not an easy task first you’ll need to head to Hakone, Japan.

And make your way to the top of the mountain. Next head to the vendor to get your eggs.

Now you might be wondering why are these eggs black. Well the secret is that the eggs are places in the boiling sulfuric hot springs.

And for some reason the sulfur reacts with the eggshell giving it a distinctive black hue.

Once you open one it’ll look like just a regular egg but you’ll notice a subtle sulfurous taste

And according to Goron lore eating one will grant you 7 years of life because natural hot springs have always been related with health benefits in Japan.

And it's another of the things that exist only in Japan!
