This week, we take a look at a version of one of the most popular Muscle Cars ever built, the Plymouth 'Cuda. Great 'Cuda. 340 is ideal for this pony car. Good combination of power and handling.

I like that this car has A/C. Makes it much more drivable in a hot climate. The A/C was an expensive option. Very rare car indeed.

Great car, great color tons of options!! 340's were cars that flew under the radar but that were not to be under estimated.

Contrary to what the video claims, the 340 was not the standard 'Cuda engine. A 383-4 was the base engine and the 340 was an option.

ya'll make great videos! much thanks for them! of course a lil correction: on that sweet carb from carter, AVS stood for Air Valve Secondary..which opened the secondaries on demand..very smooth and very fuel efficient for a 4 bbl..also unbeatable on the street. as well, the 318 & 340 had the same stroke at 3.31". Here's a list of sweet mopar mills in the L.A. engine family, including the truck application (dakota/ram pickup & van/jeep) 3.9L v-6, which was a 318 w/2 cylinders lopped off. Note that the cubic inch differences were from bore diameter only, excepting the 6 popper. not included was the 360" & 5.9L v-8, which had a longer stroke at 3.58", but was also a member of the L.A. family. This engine design also saw a stroke increase, twice now and 2 added cylinders to become what we know and love as the viper v-10 monster mills! A different variant of which was the truck only v-10..not to forget the viper v-10 powered rams.
3.9L 1988-2003 - 3.31x3.91

273" 1964-69 - 3.31x3.63

318" & 5.2L 1967-2002 - 3.31x3.91

340" 1968-73 - 3.31x4.04

The 383 was the standard 'Cuda engine, the 340 was a low cost option, and more comprehensive package than just the engine. 15' wheels with E60X15 tires are listed as standard on 340 'Cuda's. Suspension tuning was specific also and steering ratio.

I had a 70 Cuda Convertible in B5 blue but with a 335hp 383ci and4 speed.  I always thought he 383 was the base Cuda engine. It had a white top an white interior.

@5:28-29 did you notice that the driver's door wasn't closed as the car drove by?

Had a 1970 Dodg Challenger 440 six pac convertible Plum crazy black top and interior had a 727 and pozi had to power brake to burn out. If I just punched it she just jumped and rann, a bos s 302 goat 400 judge and a Shivell 454 left them behind!

I've read that the 340 4 barrel was underrated at 275 HP. More like 325 HP bone stock. Great engine!.

The rear springs have sagged.

BTW the 273, 318 and 340 all had the same 3.31" stroke.
