So we're all on the older woman's side right?

tv show: Olive Kitteridge:
A look at a seemingly placid New England town that is actually wrought with illicit affairs, crime and tragedy, all told through the lens of Olive, whose wicked wit and harsh demeanor mask a warm but troubled heart and staunch moral center. For all we know those are special flowers. Maybe a memorial to someone or a pet. Like who knows? Maybe flowers her dead husband planted. Sometimes you have to think more into things like that. To see why they’d even be upset.

She didn't yell at her. That's not yelling

That is at most a stern warning. Not a yell

That child is never told no. She could grow up and become everyone elses problem.

my nana would be stern like that. 100% justified when she was. She was also the kindest person around and was my go to adult when needed someone. she called me her bumblebee in a tree, or bumblebee.

i got a bee tattoo in honor of her.

Children shouldnt be allowed to do everything just because they mean nothing bad and are innocent to consequences, they should learn that sometimes what they do could hurt someone else or make them sad. I thaught my child we could pick wild flowers but every time he wanted to pick flowers that belongs to someone or are on a flower bed i would tell him no and explain why

My 3 year old has loved picking flowers since he was able to do so, I have one rule, we don't pick flowers from gardens, wild flowers, fine, weeds, fine, flowers from our own garden, fine, but if they're in someone else's garden, we leave them alone, someone spent money, time and effort planting and maintaining those flowers, they put a lot of hard work into growing those flowers, so we leave them alone, no matter how pretty they are

Frances McDormad is one of the great actresses that embrace the changes in life. As we all grow older. God bless you Frances 🙏🏻

so annoying i had a kid do the exact same thing to me at work i was eating my lunch but our break area doesn’t have a door and a kid wandered in and i said “go to your mommy, go back to your mommy” and he went and told on me to his mom and to my boss 😭 he brought them to me and pointed at me trying to get me in trouble we all laughed about it but spoiled kids like this are so annoying

The mother should have been more responsible for her daughter by not allowing her to wander off on her own - how many children have been harmed as a result when they have been left to wander and she should have also told her daughter not to point because it’s rude.

CONTEXT: This is a clip from the show Olive Kitteridge. And yes, that old lady was absolutely an abusive and controlling person. Forget about what she said briefly to this little girl, the show's second or third episode gets into how badly she abused her own son when he was a kid. To the point where he and his wife didn't want be around her or leave her alone with their kids later on.

Eventually after a series of mishaps she expresses regret, realizes a few harsh truths about herself and tries to be a better person. Idk why everyone in the comments is assuming she was a good person the whole time. She wasn't. She even contemplates ***cide at one point because she feels she's lost her son due to her abuse.

just because kids dont mean harm, does not mean they can do what they want.

i hate that people are like “she’s just a little girl” she is old enough to understand no. too many parents let their children do whatever than coddle them when they cry. telling a child, “that’s not yours “ isnt gonna damage the kid be ffr 🙄

People are soft. The older lady telling the kid to get tf out of the flowers is okay. She didn’t yell at all. The kid is just a kid but is lowkey annoying

Edit 4/3/25: stop fighting in the comments. If you disagree with what I said just scroll. If you have something to say about me being a terrible parent if I have kids scroll. It isn’t that serious.

I rolled my eyes at the fact they had to reassure the little girl she wasn't gonna get hurt just because an adult told her where she wasn't supposed to be playing. This is how you end up with children who grow up into over sensitive adults that can't take constructive criticism.

She didn't even yell at her tho. She was stern but absolutely didn't yell.
