Why stop at 15? Highlight as many interesting ancient tech as you can - especially those we can still learn from today (except how to hurt / kill with... those we can forget)...

Nice video. One of the most important functions of the Antikythera mechanism was to predict solar eclipses, which could be used to really freak out your enemies.

2:12 are you sure that's the name of it? Seems like they would've called it something closer to the pictures they drew on it? Flaming-dragon-something?

A much needed correction.
The first ancient technology "Greek Fire" had been named correctly but at this time, the Greek speaking inhabitants of the "Byzantine Empire" a term coined long after the fall of what was in fact the Roman Empire, called themselves Rhomaioi, the Romans and the Eastern Roman Empire or just Roman Empire was the legetimate seamless continuation of the classical ancient Roman Empire.
It called itself "Vasileon ton Rhomaion" (Empire of the Romans) and their ruler called himself "Vasilios kai Autokrator ton Rhomaion" (Emperor and self-ruler of the Romans). So, it's ahistorical to call the eastern Romans "Greeks".

Acutally the chinese nest of bees historical record show that it was not accurate, often exploded on air, and rarely reach any target and therefor was barely used.
Modern historians reconstitutions show that indeed it was noisy, could scares some horses but wouldn't kill any one.

The earliest trebuchets appeared in the same time in Byzance and China but they were powered by hands while the mechanical trebuchet was created in France during the medieval period and was much more powerful.
