CNN reporter Leigh Waldman provides the latest update about the fires still raging through Los Angeles as crews attempt to contain the catastrophic event.

The Palisades and Eaton fires are burning with zero per cent containment, with 180,000 people facing evacuation orders.

Thousands of structures are either damaged or completely destroyed because of how rapidly the fires are burning.

“People are coming back here, and they have no businesses to come back to; they have no homes to come back to,” Ms Waldman told Sky News Australia.

“Absolute widespread devastation.”

i wonder if any Americans are thinking, , ,
"instead of giving $183 billion to Ukraine, maybe we should have been getting more firefighters and police"

What I find more upsetting is the media reporters, they are vultures asking the victims in the streets we're their home once stood totally shocked, asking them how they are feeling or are they insured and what they are going to do now, the media is pathetic!

Is it just me that thinks that as soon as it's announced that the fire situation is critical that the fires suddenly spring up it's been happening for year's and to me it seems suspicious it's the same here in Australia.

there goes the US insurance industry, the feds will bail them out and old joe will give the victims $750 each.

California will never recover financially from this

California has outdated infrastructure, not enough reservoirs to capture the above average rain that has fallen over the last few years in North Cali and flows to the South, forestry mismanagement, DEI hires in fire-fighting, fire-fighting budget cuts - but only climate change is responsible. In fact, it was only last year that Cali was dumping water because there was a fear that the dams could not contain the water flow coming from the North.
Fire is a part of life, however, the Californian Government failed miserably in minimising the damage of fire.

And to know that much of it was preventable is a travesty!

They did not fund vegetation reduction, or new dams or fire fighters, more time with being inclusive. Will they learn?

These are vey wealthy people. typical homes in these areas are 8 million U.S. dollars. It's this extreme wealth that makes them all liberal.

These fires were accepted into the country with love and respect through diversity and inclusion and given free accommodation.🤣

This is what you get when you place woke, green and politically correct ideology above common sense, logic and reality.

You could describe the fires like the great fires of New Orleans

Maybe it's time to stop blaming one person for cutting water...who cut water for a period of over 8 months...not a person....maybe focus on climate change, and global it's not getting any better
