From Germany via Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary to Rumania – that's the route our two DW reporters Shabnam Surita and Laila Abdalla took. They travelled all the way through Central and Eastern Europe to find out how the Russian war against Ukraine is affecting tourism in its neighboring countries.
And Shabnam and Laila also show you what not to miss in cities like Prague, Budapest and Bratislava.

With that title, I thought that you will choose some cities nearer the border with Ukraine. You went as far west as possible 😂 You can still go to cities near the border, they are safe. In Romania, you can visit the Maramures region, also the Bucovina region, both on the north border with Ukraine, or in the summer the Danube Delta, on the eastern border with Ukraine.

It’s interesting to realise that the frontline is as far from Wrocław as is… Barcelona. But still, tourism was affected big deal, especially people from Spain are afraid of coming to Poland, Romania, Slovakia. I say: it’s safe, come visit, this supports us and indirectly Ukraine that we try to support on daily basis. And you will be part of great history, how often can one say that.

Czechia is not any more a neighbouring country to Ukraine than Germany is..
So, travelling there is about the same as Berlin, I guess..?

Prague and the Czech Republic surely isn’t effected, we are so far away from there, it is actually much closer to France or Switzerland from Prague, than to Ukraine

Since Russia is at war too, you could have also visited North Korea and Norway, both of which are bordering it ...

The report seems like somebody wanted to do fun trip funded by the employer, so they put '...in times of the war in Ukraine' sticker. Fantastic way to milk the employer- respect for creativity:))
I guess next report will be 'how the Seychelles beach life is impacted by the war in Ukraine', or 'Las Vegas without rich Russian gamblers';) Go girls!!

It is a good travel video without those "travel in a time of war" caption because you didn't even go close to the Ukrainian border!!!

Sooo beautiful especially in a time of crisis like in Ukraine! ✨✨

Hope that when the war is over, Ukraine and its neighbors will come together to restore the European power it once held.

The various travel restrictions are still confusing to USA/Canada, and probably more restrictive to thinking about travel than Ukraine.

The statues of "dwarfs" isn't actually dwarfs what you think they are Ludkové or permoníci from Western Slavic mythology, they was very close to the humans cities and even citizens of towns and tribes, they are not like dwarfs from Germanic mythology who hide themselves but like more visible and helpful for households 🇨🇿🇵🇱🇸🇰 ( also sorbians 🇩🇪)

You go to capitals of central European countries and ask if Ukraine affected them. No they didn't, they aren't even near Ukraine. And 3 capitals do not give you a realistic impression of a country. Kinda pointless from a news perspective but I'm sure it was fun.

The video gave me an idea to put in place a proper itinerary of Central Europe. I intend to add Slovenia as well. Krokaw, ceske krumlov would have been interesting addition as well. Madam Shabnam Sarita, you have strong eastern Indian accent. Are you from Bengal?
