I've watched a few of the Stanford videos and this doctor seems like he'd be such an amazing teacher. I'm not even interested in medicine and I'd want to take his class.

1.) The Doctor's name is Dr Abraham Verghese. He's a General Internist who works at Stanford. He also has a fabulous TED talk on the value of the physical exam. I highly recommend it.

2.) Re: the unprovoked reflex at 4:27 in this video, the gentleman being examined is still a "simulated patient", which means he's been hired to play the part. Consequently, there will be acting. But whether the hammer hit his patellar tendon or not, he's still performing the exam correctly - swinging the hammer correctly, and aiming it at the right spot.

Goth punk drummer wasn't a good career choice. So I decided to volunteer my body for medical demos and experiments…

this is a popular asmr video, but if you listen closely, you can hear someone practicing a horn in another room.

I haven't been able to elicit most of the reflexes before, but I was able to do so after this. Thank you!

I'm glad they included incidental music on this video. I do like there to be a sense of drama in my ASMR videos.

They didn't do that right; neither the doctor nor the patient got red in the face.

Note: Deep tendon reflexes are still present in zombies.

What is the difference between tapping directy on the tendon and tapping over the examiner's thumb?

4:27 Is it my impression or the patient delivered a contraction without actually being hit by the hammer?

Can someone explain why the brachioradialis test seems to evoke motion at the wrist rather than the elbow, when brachioradialis is an elbow flexor and does not cross the wrist...?

Could you tell me what the innervation is for the Radius Periost reflex, i know its C5- C6 but not the actual nerve like N. medianus.
and the footsole reflex? The one that you move a sharp object on the lateral side of the bodem of the foot to the small toe.
But for the rest a very good video THX!!!!
