We’re in Melbourne eating up a storm over a number of weeks. Today we’re in Footscray a suburb known for its vibrant Vietnamese, Chinese and North African communities. We’re eating our way around Footscray and sharing with you some awesome eats.
Melbourne is a food lover’s dream- from cheap and cheerful eats to fine dining- this city has it all. The diverse population of its people means its food culture is rich and multi-cultural. We used to call this city home so we know it pretty well. We can’t wait to share some of our favourite spots with you plus experience new eats with you along for the ride.
What we ate and where we ate it:
Pie Thief, 297 Barkly St, Footscray VIC 3011. Open Monday to Friday 8:30am-3pm and weekends 10am-4pm. Big Thief Burger $9 and Thai Red Curry Chicken pie $9
Papelon, Unit 190/81 Hopkins St, Footscray VIC 3011 (in Footscray market). Open Tuesday to Thursday 11am—9:30pm, Friday 10am-9:30pm, Saturday 9am-9:30pm and Sunday 11am-9pm. Chicken and avocado (Reina Pepiada) $19, Pabellon $19.
T Cavallaro & Sons, 98 Hopkins St, Footscray VIC 3011. Open Tuesday to Friday 8:30am-4pm, Saturday 8am-3pm and Sunday 8:30am-12pm. Cannoli $5.50 each
Bánh Xèo Tay Do, 4/62 Nicholson St, Footscray VIC 3011. Open 11:30am-7pm Wednesday to Monday. Cash only. Banh khot $20
