The story is just as important as gameplay.

This is untrue, you'll miss soooo many references

Yes but considering **that** ending to bayo 3, I think it’s a bit safer to play the previous 2 before stepping into 3. Or just play the first two immediately after 3 for context

Honestly you’d be foolish not to play all 3. There all got incredible bosses and gameplay.

You lost me when you said it’s not about the story and lore. It’s very much about that, as Bayonetta wouldn’t be who she is without it.

I played Bayo 2 on Wii U and Bayo 1 on Xbox One (bundled with Vanquish, which is a harder game but still a badass shooter), I want to get those games on Switch now that I finished Bayo 3 just for those delicious pistols you can't get otherwise.

3 million? Damn... pour one out for all those who have never performed a wicked weave.

I watched the gameplay instead of playing. That game, to me, felt so empty. Recently, I saw a video with the new game, basically the Bayonetta spinoff. I played the demo and loved it, she's adorable. I think I'll be buying that before I buy 3, because apparently, there's a connection between that game and Bayonetta 3.

That's same logic can be used for any other game. I can play Final Fantasy, Fire Emblem, DMC, etc. games without knowing whatever in hell is going on in the story

Counterpoint: You can get Bayo 1 and 2 bundled for the same price, and they're still excellent games. If you don't suffer from FOMO, then play the first two first.

Also, there's a ton of references in 3 that you wouldn't get otherwise.

The only way to get love is blue and Scarborough fair is to have a save file of Bayonetta 1 and 2

Bayo 1 story is good and the reason why we care about Bayonetta and Jeanne as characters.
But apparently that doesen't matter anymore and clearly even Platinum doesen't care, so i guess you are right about it

Bayonetta 3 is basically a soft reboot set in a different timeline. I hope they make an enhanced edition with Jeanne playable in the Bayo chapters. She’s only restricted to the witch trails witch is a shame!

Counterpoint: Bayonetta 3 did the characters dirty, they didn't feel like how they used to be at ALL

I really recommend playing the 2 games first. I tried to play DMC 5 after only playing DMC and it made me confused to what's happening thus becoming unmotivated to play it. Bayonetta's lore is really good when you read the texts.

The awesome thing about the Bayonetta series is that even its weakest entry, Bayo 2, is a hella awesome and fun game with plenty of incredibly memorable moments and challenges

I'm hardcore bayonetta fan since 2009 the year that bayonetta 1 came out 💯

The previous games get plot, caracters, gameplay and OST.
Bayo 3: get remake ost. A plot that is a plagia from Multivers of Madness and No Way Home. No caracters beacause they are all dead. And a gameplay wich force you to go into de menu when you want to use every object you need because they use the directionnel cross to put invocations on. Wich was not in previous game.
