There are almost 500 Animal Crossing villagers, but which ones are the least popular? Thousands of people voted for their MOST and LEAST favourite Animal Crossing villagers, and today we're going through the results!

The top 4 were all cats and none of them were Raymond. That's surprising.

All I really got out of this is what I already know:

1) people love nostalgia and cats.
2) people unanimously hate the gorilla, mouse, and rhino character designs.

Keaton being in the bottom 25 actually kind of surprised me. I like his design and vibe a lot!

This seems like visuals were THE determining factor, outside of some fan-favorites. This seems especially true at the bottom, where you see a lot of apes and hippos with weird eyes, bad makeup, and awful hair, facial or otherwise.

I would suggest that the personalities these characters have say more about the designers' (and perhaps the public's) biases towards certain looks. After all, the respondants flipping through hundreds of pairings were not interacting with these characters. They were just taking a second or two to quickly compare what they saw.

Fun fact about ganguro, it's also based on mountain spirits that represent hypothermia, which are usually depicted with the darkened skin and inflated lips of its victims. Hence the name "Fever"

I clicked on this video because I just knew it would have Limberg slander in it and I'd have to fight for him. He was one of the villagers from my original childhood gamecube town and I'd go to his house all the time just to sit and listen to his gyroids jamming out to K.K. Folk. He'll always be my favourite.

Chow deserves to be last, he genuinely creeps me out.

I’m pretty shocked Raymond got 35th I thought for sure he was gonna be first based on his popularity. I am so glad Lucky was top 5 he’s my favorite. I also like Rosie, Lolly, and Zucker. It was fun to vote too!

What’s super funny is I actually love Limberg, and Harry bc when I first played animal crossing, it was City Folk and they were my very first villagers who I met and they’re so nostalgic for me! Harry always called my siblings and I Beach Bums and it always made us laugh. I can understand why they’re unpopular to others, but I personally love them so much. I’d do anything I could to keep them in my city

I was sweating, man. I was waiting for Rosie's name to come up and by the time we got to #1 I was like wow she's not gonna be in the top 25??? She was one of my first villagers in Animal Crossing for the GCN and I fell in love with her. She's been my favorite ever since for purely nostalgic reasons. Sasha is a close runner up from the modern lineup. Words cannot express how excited I was when she was one of the first villagers I got in the latest game.

Notice how many hippos, gorillas, and rats are near the bottom? How many cats and wolves are rated highly? It's not coincidence, when there's only like 4 personality types visuals count for _a lot_ . I think Coco and Tangy are a little ugly, but they're unique in a fun way - Coco being a Gyroid and Tangy being a tasty fruit. Lucky is probably my favorite villager in the towns I've actually had (him, Peanut, Olivia, and Static all way up there). Ankha and Lucky have very _striking_ appearances, risky designs that pay off in spades.

aw, i usually love the snooty and cranky villagers! Olivia the cat is one of my faves because she's not all smiles and rainbows, but not super mean either. idk i just like it when a villager brings a little bit of edge to my town

Limberg is an example of a character I hated at first when he arrived in my town in Wild World, but I actually didn't mind him so much after I warmed up to him. He wasn't my favourite villager by any means, but I don't think he deserves so much unpopularity.

I would love to see a follow up to this video covering more of the statistics from this survey. Like what are the most popular species or personality types in the series?

We clearly see just from this list that positive personalities on dogs and cats take up much of the top, while negative personalities on rhinos, hippos, and gorillas are at the bottom.

How would a species like the octopus with fewer but seemingly well-liked villagers stack up against the popular dogs and cats with their larger numbers?

P.S. my favorites are Zucker and Roald. I’m so proud of my buddies for cracking the top 25 :)
