Just to give your viewers a wee bit of help, when you see 2 or more(typically 3) notes stacked vertically(on top of each other), these are chords, when you see 2 or more chords, this is a chord progression. A chord progression creates the harmony of the song. Below the harmony is the bass line. Above the harmony is the melody, which is a series of notes displayed in a horizontal fashion. Harmony-verticle Melody-horizontal. Hope this helps some of you. 99.9% songs have this structure, bassline, harmony, melody.

Making the "Counter melody" has always been the hardest thing for me. This helps a lot. Many tutorials out there just have the person throwing notes down and not really explaining outside of "because it sounds good." You showing your thought process helps a lot.

I didn't know Scale Hightlighting until now. I used to search on google the scale of the note I wanted and plotted it down using 1/8 notes. This is so useful.

Good Video! a little thing i want to advise to begginers is, to not be afraid to break the rules. yes this guide is cool and all but sometimes from breaking the rules you get more interesting sounds.

So this is the third video of yours I experienced. Thank you. Some advice from a guy who did a lot of training to other people: Talk more (much more) slowly (i nearly turn blue at some points quite during this video) You won't die underways :) It will do your already informative vids some real good.

I find myself always stuck after those steps. I don't know how to lead a song into that melody and chord progression, how to keep the song interesting and not too repetetive, how to end the song, how to make instruments sounds good. Everytime I would write a simple song on a guitar I'd struggle with developing it further, I'd find an interesting chord progression and melody but wouldnt know where to go from there, "should the song have a bridge section" or "should it also have a pre-chorus section". Do you plan it all out ahead or you kinda "send it" and shape the song as you make it? Btw, I found your channel yesterday and there's a ton of helpful material over here so huuge thank you for that!
