Katie Porter DEVASTATES Gun CEO

In typical Katie Porter fashion, the California representative just dunked on a gun CEO. John Iadarola and Abelina Sabrina break it down on The Damage Report.

"New York Congresswoman Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez confronted CEOs of gun manufacturer companies during a tense hearing on Wednesday.

Testifying before the House Oversight and Reform Committee and the parents of one of the children killed in the Uvalde massacre, Daniel Defense CEO Marty Daniel and Ruger CEO Christopher Killoy maintained their companies have played no part in the epidemic of mass shootings in the US.

During the hearing, Ms Ocasio-Cortez showed one Daniel Defense 2017 ad featuring an image of a shooter with a tattoo of a Valknot, a Norse symbol that has become increasingly popular among far-right and white supremacist groups such as the Proud Boys, the boogaloo boys, and the Oath Keepers.

The New York representative proceeded to show a picture of the self-proclaimed ‘‘Q-Anon Shaman’’ when he stormed the Capitol on Jan 6. The picture featured the man’s chest and his Valknot tattoo in the middle of it.

Mr Daniel said he was not aware of the iconography and that he did not directly participate in advertising. He decried the recent wave of massacres across America but said they were a ‘‘local problem that should be addressed locally.’’"

I, my friends and my brothers all had BB guns at 6 or older. Not one of us ever pointed a BB gun at each other. When my son became four years old, I took him over to my guns and pointed out where every gun was (I was a collector...I collected for the beauty of the tool, not for it's deadliness...most of my guns were collectable .22s and not the big magnums). I told me son that they are all serious and deadly. "These guns can kill, and you should not touch them until you are older and I show you how to handle them." The father of those kids did not do the right thing by taking the kids from zero instruction to taking them to the firing range (in fact, in my opinion, 10 is the minimum age for taking to the firing range, AFTER a lifetime [from 4 to 10] of being told not to touch these very dangerous objects). And don't even mention the very ignorant part where he walks away and leaves the kids with the loaded weapons.

Not even Democrats who owns guns want biometrics on their guns. They want the a reliable gun when needed.
For liability reasons, gun manufacturers are hesitant to make the 'What If' the gun fails when needed, or the biometrics fails when in the wrong hands would be a liability nightmare.
Last time I heard about biometrics firearms, some were given to UC Davis for testing, the biometrics were killed using a few $5 magnets.
The time before that, the software was hacked and the hacker was able to fire the weapon from a distance by the tester.
Just did a quick search and I couldn't find any guns with biometrics available for sale; only a few prototypes.

I’m not American, I’m Canadian. But Katie Porter for president is all I think every single time I see her. I love her and I think she’s underrated. Even by the Young Turks. I hear way more about Ilhan Omar and AOC than I do about Katie Porter. She’s the best in comparison to anyone I’ve ever seen.

Umm, actually no. I'm all for gun reform and gun control. Requiring biometrics seems dumb. The people who do things with guns that we're trying to stop are usually the legal owners of those guns. How would adding fingerprint scanners help at all? Plus a gun isn't a phone, this means you'd have to recharge your guns batteries or it won't fire. It also means guns could be hacked. Is that a good idea? Just restrict semi-auto rifles, don't muck around with fingerprint scanners. It would probably be very easy to bypass and we'd have to constantly arrest people for disabling the scanners, I don't own a gun but if I did I'd disable the scanner, to hell with the law. When it comes to the story you mentioned, didn't they just take the kid shooting? Wouldn't that mean their gun would have had the kid's fingerprint and allowed them to use it? You gotta restrict the guns themselves, not mess with this sci-fi stuff. Yeah it kinda does mean the guns could be shut down remotely, they'd have to have software and update that software, which means they can be hacked or shut down. Again I will reiterate I am all for gun restrictions, but I don't want to deal with the fact this would barely cut down on the gun problem, and the first time a cop's gun battery dies and they get shot fox news will eat our lunch. I can already see the headlines "hero cop dies because of Dem's crazy ineffective laws!!! Is this 1984?" Like come on.

*edit: I disagree with this one specific argument, but I love Katie's nonstop take-downs. Porter for president 2024!

Again, my Brother’s Ex’s Boyfriend, bought my 13 year old Nephew an AR-15. With two 30 round magazines. Guns are a problem. When a boyfriend can buy, not his child, a weapon and magazine that can kill multiple people within a few seconds.

My brother almost shot my little sister when he was real little. Literally dodged a bullet that day. My dad, biggest gun nut I know, got rid of that 38 special, and we were raised on "guns aren't toys". I've been shooting with him since but I feel he raised us the right way in that regard.
