What do you think Borderlands 3 doesn't get enough credit for?

The sound is 5, 000x as detailed as previous games. Each gun had an individual firing sound. BL2 had just a few different sounds for firing and that was it. Music, especially in boss encounters, was incredibly effective.

It’s perspective. The people who rolled with it from launch suffered exhaustion as it went through its very high and very low phases. Bottom line, if someone bought it today and hadn’t played it before, they’d find an awesome game. Sometimes it’s just better to buy a game 2 years later.

Greater movement controls is a massive upgrade to 2. Mantling and sliding make the game feel fresher and encourage exploration

What I like the most about BL3 is the fact that it has a few times more endgame viable weapons than each previous entry combined. There's just so much you can use and be successful with, and every new playthrough feels so much more different from the previous ones. Also not having to beat the game three times to access endgame is a huge plus.

From me it's the fast check points and no multiple playthroughs.

BL3 improved on BL2 mechanics in probably every single way. The story, lack of endgame for a long time, and the constant rebalancing really hurt it. I've seen people complain about power creep and it certainly happened with season pass 2, but the game was at the end of its lifecycle, so I never saw that as a big deal.

BL3 will always be a fantastic looking game that plays incredibly smooth. They nailed the look and feel of pretty much everything in the game. My pick for something that doesn't get enough credit is the Maliwan faction as a whole. All of their units just look fantastic and many have cool gimmicks. Especially with the Blacksite expanding on their roster they have a very powerful showing. They're a great addition to the series and I really hope they return in the future.

For me its the community-developer communication

Through every single rough part of 3’s lifespan the developers was constantly in touch with the community.
They told us their plans to fix things, they added the things people wanted and they kept releasing so much free (and amazinf) content for people to enjoy

The game likely wouldn’t have survived without it and immso happy it did.
It truly is my favourite game of all time

For me the 5 best things Borderlands 3 added/changed were these(they're not in any order):
5. Assault rifles felt for me awesome to use for the first time in BL game
4. Skill augments/alternative skills. That's something I really loved. Because thanks to that there's no Vault hunter that I don't like based on their skill, because everyone have at least one that I like.
3. New planets. Promethea and Athenas were for me the most interesting new areas and I am glad we will see more of Promethea in New Tales.
2. That's something I don't think many people will agree with, but I liked that Legendaries were dropping more often. Maybe too often, but I like to have the chance to try legendary gear before I farm for it. Because in BL2 there were many occasions where I farmed some enemy and after many, many restarts I got the weapon and found out, that it wasn't that great I hoped it to be.
1. DLC skill trees - Although I like some DLC characters in previous games(well basically just Pre-sequel. I didn't liked how Krieg and Gaige played in BL2) I love how much variety the new skill tree brings to Vault hunters. How Amara is finally really great character for mellee, Flak's new pet and skills for pets and etc.

And there are of course more things. Like the events and takedowns, Quality of life changes, weapon skins and more.

As someone that came in super late with no hype the game exceeded my expectations

I feel that the character speed of Borderlands 3 just made it an awesome game for me cause I loved just sliding around everywhere in hyperspeed haha

I know it's something that everybody says. but, a bl2 remake with the bl3 skill tree system as well as all of bl3's QOL features would be amazing

What I'm most happy for is the 500 slot bank for storage across characters. Why wouldn't you have a large cross-character storage system in a game that promotes finding gear and making character builds.

Something that I dont really see a lot people talk about is the weapon design, which is honestly just top notch. I mean, CoV guns alone are probably one, if not the best looking guns in the game. They reused weapon parts from BL2, for the love of god. On top of that, the sound design with the guns is also some of the best I have ever witnessed.

Another thing that doesnt get enough praise, are anoints. Now before you get your pitchforks and torches, I know they arent well balanced. If you hate thrm, I can understand it. However, the amount of extra build variety they add to the game is massive. Without them, there would be no reason to use a front loader or a deathless. Without them, the revolter would be not as good as it currently is. The idea is great, the execution not so much.

Maybe another thing that BL3 does not get enough credit for, is its sound effects for weapons and gear. BL3 apparently has many more unique sound effects for guns than the previous games did. In fact, BL2's sound effects were also pretty good. If a player pays close enough attention, they can determine what kind of gun an enemy is using from the firing sound effect alone. Even the longbow grenade had a unique sound effect, so you could know when an enemy threw one at you.

If borderlands had a a way of skipping dialogue it would be perfect.

Remember pre-sequel was the birth place of cryo, annointments, zero gravity, lasers, and more… cant forget that man pre-sequel had a lot going for it

I just can't believe gearbox didn't bring back mercenary day. Of all the bl2 headhunters that was really good, they could've done something good with that and Tina cursing Marcus out for being mean to little orphan Timmy would be priceless.
