He's casually slaking off in office to make YouTube videos 😅😅

This was a pretty good reaction. I'm fine with the pausing and rewinding. I prefer it over saying your explanation while the video is still playing and potentially missing something.
"Animation vs. Physics" has a pseudo-prequel as "Animation vs. Math" and a pseudo-sequel as "Animation vs. Geometry." You should check both of them out!

One way to relate Time Dialation to something most people interact with every day is GPS Satilites. A clock aboard a GPS satellite in a medium Earth orbit will gain about 45 microseconds per day over a clock that's at sea level on the earth due to lower gravity. Without correcting for this time dialation, position errors would quickly accumulate, making the GPS unusable for navigation. So you don't have to be way out there in space going at some large fraction of the speed of light to interact with it. This one you can actually reach into your pocket to use a technology that wouldn't work without understanding of time dialation.

Dr. Dance: Perhaps amend your statement that the solenoid passing through the magnetic rings "breaks the laws of physics". It passes through a _series_ of rings and the acceleration boost from each ring lets the solenoid travel enough of a distance that it is more attracted to the next ring. Turning off or reversing the polarity of the flux on each ring is a nice bonus if you're making a coilgun, but no law of physics requires it until the solenoid passes through the last ring. And what happens there? Coincidentally, you paused the screen exactly at that point, turned to the camera and said, "They should have done the nukes." (See 25:40.) But, at the moment you took your eyes off the video, the final ring is shown to have no flux, red or blue. That is, it is possible someone has turned off the magnets at the last ring and therefore this method of acceleration fits with our known laws of physics.

What do you think?

7:45 Have you checked the fridge? My step dad left his glasses there once - after turning the house upside down 😂

finally, after a year a new video, love to see it

0:22 looks like a pressure chamber, but it does more than just that it seems

Hi Dylan, I’m currently doing a PhD in Physics as well. Recently Frank Wilczek came and gave a talk. It was mostly about Anyons, since a Prof. at our University is involved with those, but he mentioned how excited he was in recent developments in technology for detecting Axions. I’m also excited to see what happens in the near future, hopefully you can get him his second Nobel haha. (And your own!)

1:50 Alan Becker’s stick figures can survive some really crazy stuff, so he’s completely fine from that

Hi Dylan! I'm very happy to see you again after a very long time. I hope you doing well! Zoltan from Hungary.

One thing to remember, just like the vs maths videos, this is meant to be artistic

Ok but, no one is questioning how Alan is this smart to make this animation 💀

it really boils down to is the universe explainable or not, or in the mathematical world, is mathematics a discovery or an an invention. Because if it is only an invention, that means that this universe is potentially non-explainable, and thus we will never understand anything to the fullest (this doesn't mean that we can't have technology or a partial understanding of cause and effect).

Yoo so good to see your face again! This animation's really helpful since it's wonderful for visual learners like me. Your vids are indeed inspiring & I can't wait to hear the news that a physicist named Dr. Dance has found dark matter! The lab's freakin' sweet, but I *think* I may have saw some dark matter in New York... :D

I noticed I was getting emails from the newsletter recently and I even read some of them, it's good to see you again :)

Good job explaining. You really ooze care and passion for physics and it was enjoyable to hear your takes and other tangents. Keep on keeping on!

33:00 The only thing I want to point out here is that the Standard Model, and in fact most QFTs, are not conformal field theories. The Standard Model has intrinsic mass-energy and length scales that do not obey the symmetries of a conformal group. Non-trivial Beta functions remain from renormalization group flow even if we ignore the Higgs mechanism. At certain energies, we gain temporary windows of conformal symmetry that can be extrapolated, but in most cases this does not hold. Conformal symmetry doesn't hold for most interacting theories. Requiring it as a requisite for a QFT is simply far too restrictive, and that would eliminate many of the most interesting features of the Standard Model altogether.

A simple example of a conformal field theory would be free-field electrodynamics in a vacuum, such as Maxwell's equations in vacuum. They obey SO(2, 4), a conformal group for 4D spacetime and the isometry group of 5D anti-De Sitter space. Once charged particles with mass are introduced, conformal symmetry is broken and the equations become restricted to obeying symmetries of the Poincare group. Whether the theory is classical or quantized becomes irrelevant at that point.

Idk who your target audience is but I would love to see you talk about and teach complex things. I like watching Angela Collier’s channel (also doing her phd on dark matter stuff) and she just talks for hours about just stuff in physics which I watch all the way through every time. I would love if you could do that with stuff like De Sitter spaces conceptually and mathematically. Also I would love to hear you talk about that story of that super smart guy
