“Nasi Lemak” is a traditional Malay cuisine that is well-loved by all Malaysians. Hence, it’s known to be the national dish of Malaysia. Even though it’s mostly consumed as a staple for breakfast, Malaysians generally can have it anytime during the day – for lunch, dinner and even supper!

The classic version consists of fragrant rice cooked in coconut milk and pandan leaf, complemented with sambal, “ikan bilis” (anchovies), peanuts and boiled egg. Some would prefer to have additional sides to their “nasi lemak”, by adding fried chicken, sambal squid, rendang and even cockles. “Nasi Lemak” can be easily found on every street corner and any local-themed restaurant in Malaysia.
