Fitting a range of side steps to the Defender. But which ones do we keep?

Our original folding side steps have, like so many others, seized completely. So it's time we replaced them. With loads of options available, we look at the two most popular options - The original style fold down steps or new tubular style step runners. How easy are they to fit, how good do they look and which ones should we keep on our project 110. We want you to decide, so please comment below which option you would go for. Most vites will get fitted!

LR008375B - DEFENDER BLACK SVX TUBULAR SIDE STEPS WITH RUBBER AND ALUMINIUM TOP FOR 110 CSW

Folding steps for me - I love the traditional look.

I’ve had steps and they get pretty cruddy fast, I’ve also smashed a few up when off roading, I’d go side runner, the look is better in my opinion. Great video as always👍🏻

I have the folding steps and love the look, However, I also have a wife, and she finds it hard getting in and out (of the Landy😮), so a runner would probably be better. Make your choice on who is getting in and out....hope that helps

Side runners look better but if you're planning any serious off roading the fold up steps are the way to go

I've got a 90 with the foldables wich I prefer above the permanent ones.

Oh that’s a tough one… love the folding steps…. Love the runner step too. Hmmmm runner gets the vote from “Her Indoors”. So that’s me told ! 😂

The reason the bolt and nut are different sizes incase anyone's wondering, is in the event people only have 1 of each socket or spanner size. Anyway, I'm having the same debate for my 130 I like that the steps fold in and that maybe useful for width resolution but the bars double as side protection and I think using them for entry will be easier as the foot placement isn't just tied to being so far forward like it is on the steps, I'd go with bars, but think some electrically folding ones

I like the look of the folding steps myself, they seem to suit the rest of the Defenders upgrades. Oh, and more air guitar and head banging please! Great video as ever.

I replaced mine with the bars look great and give the side view a bit of a chunkier look.
Wish i had thought to take the sills off, had some bloody knuckles by the time i was done

Is there a way to incorporate the single steps with a proper rock slider?

Well…
Aesthetics asides … I think they BOTH look nice …

I would choose the side bar on a 110 AND the folding step on a 90 … ❗️

However … I do think that the stepping bar is a better choice either way…
Not only does it serve as a better way to get in, it’s also a support for the under chassis’s as well as a good way to reach the top, if you have something on the roof 👍

Greetings from Germany everybody 👋

PS. yes i am the German who bought a english car AFTER Brexit… (that’s how much I love these) and let me tell you, it’s a pain in the butt to get spare parts. Takes forever to get them and the extra cost through taxes, are a serious point… unfortunately… 😢

Folding steps every time for me, if you must have any at all. It’s not that high, that’s why you have knees so you can bend your legs 🦵The full length side steps make it look like a boy racer’s street car 🏎️ 😝
