Just to make it clear. You say the spectator can shuffle the cards to, but that is apparently not the case....

This trick is awesome! One improvement I would make is that at the beginning you can tell your spectator that you are going to look for ten pairs, one card red and one card black. Then you can create this set up in the middle of the performance. Also you can use any pairs as long as they match and are in order. For example black K Q 6 7 9 10 J A 3 2, and Red K Q 6 7 9 10 J A 3 2. This makes the trick look more random.

Here's an easy way to make a much stronger presentation.

The only setup requirement is to have card-mates ten cards away from each other in the prepared packet. Therefore, instead of using ten consecutive red and ten consecutive blacks, use a more random appearing setup of 20 cards, as described below. This way, the 20 cards can be displayed face up both, before and after shuffling, to prove that it is a "totally random" mix of cards. After the second face up display, this "random mix" can be cut one more time by the spectator before you go through the deal.

Here's how to do the setup. Take the top ten cards from a shuffled deck. Spread them face up. Go through the remaining cards to find and arrange the card-mates in a second pack of ten. Combine the two packs, and you're ready to go.

This is a good trick, but some people would catch onto the fact that they didn't see a single face card out of 20 cards. Dealing the second card was also obvious to me, but I know that move. Even if I didn't, anyone will notice you turn the cards over every time they say yes. It would be better to keep them upside down the entire time and just deal the bottom or second from the bottom depending on their answer. It would make it less obvious where the move is.

Also, it doesn't specifically need to be A to 10, or match black to red. For further ambiguity, you could just set it up to match the face value, ignoring the suit. You could order them Q, J, 8, 8, 10, K, 7, 2, 3, 6. Or any other random sequence. As long the second set is the same order this trick will still work, and I believe would have a stronger effect because it appears to be more randomized.

I love this trick. I find that you can have any configuration for the first 10 cards, as long as you repeat the same configuration for the second 10 cards.   I then show the display as being mixed and then do the other mixture as described (even asking the observer to name how many cards from top to bottom}.  It works well and completely confuses everyone.

Early, let me tell you guys a story...

One time I was doing magic tricks and this one kid said I was horrible and I needed to stop I kept practicing and soon that same kid said I was actually good after I did a card trick. Moral of the story is practice and practice.

this is a good trick for an opener followed by do as i do. that would make the beggining of a great routine im going to experament a little with this and see if i can find a way to show the cards to the spectator before i cut aince its a numbers game ill try it like that

You don't have to use them in order from ace to 10. It's more ''impossible'' if u use random cards, it only matters that black and red stacks are in the same order. It's a bit fisshy because most of the NOs are in order(4 and 5, 8 and 9, ...).
