You don’t need to change anything. I think the name Mormon is a badge of honor. It represents all of us that the church lied to. I will always be a “ Mormon” to honor my ancestors.

Nemo. You loved it you lived it then were kicked out of it. Mormon is a part of your story and always will be. And no one can take that from you unless you decide to let it go. There are many ways to mormon.

No, please don’t change it. In my opinion, your name and identity shouldn’t be determined based on some erroneous decision by people who are determined to misunderstand you. You have so many people who love and support you!

I completely agree with you, Nemo. Ultimately choose the name you are most comfortable with, but I see no reason to change it regardless of the appeal results.

Absolutely you should not change your name. Mormon will always be an important part of Who You Are. I was Mormon for 20 years and have now left the church but I still tell people I was Mormon

I totally agree. I wouldn’t at least until the appeal is over. Past that point, unless you feel changing the name would help you personally as you redefine your relationship with the corporate church there’s no reason for it to change. Sometimes changing a name can be a good way to mentally close one chapter and start another. But if you don’t feel that’s necessary, keep it.

I'd say keep it if you want to! And you know what? Even if your excommunication stays in place, being a member of the Church is a significant part of YOUR story. We are all shaped by the experiences of our lives, and having been born and raised in the church is part of what made you who you are. I am an Ex-Mormon, and the "Mormon" period of my life is just as much a part of me as the "Ex" period is now. I wouldn't be who I am without the church. I have a right to my own past, and so do you. Your life is yours, your time is yours, and how you choose to identify yourself is entirely up to you. I support you in your ability to choose how you want to exist in the world and what you want to be known as.

Thank you for all that you do and have done. I appreciate the hard work and genuine care you put into your content. Your voice was one I needed during one of the hardest times of my life. The comfort and support I felt from the knowledge that I'm not alone meant more than I can properly articulate. If nothing else, you have certainly lived up to the "More Good" definition of Mormon. Thank you, again.

Even if you’re no longer considered a Mormon by the churches standards, that doesn’t matter how you personally feel about being a Mormon. If you still embrace being Mormon and consider yourself one… well, we live in 2024! You can be who you wanna be!
