This man is loved around the world. Robert and company have made the best music out there. I wish good health to him and his family.

The Cure rose up in what was probably the greatest era of pop/rock music. That period from the mid 70's all the way through the 80's was just intense in terms of inspiration, creativity and atmosphere. I find this true in a other of genres of music as I listen to a lot of Salsa and latin music and it seems that period had magic like there was something in the air that just disappeared long before the turn of the new century

I bought up pretty well their whole catalogue on the strength of (obviously some of the songs I've heard) but maybe even more because Robert seems such a genuine good guy. And now I'm huge into their stuff, and there's so much to sink into of all kinds it's great.

Two years on....I just found this interview. Great interview with RS

The most amazing revelation of this interview is the fact that Robert admitted that he has a tape of the very first "Cure" show from 1978 as a 3-piece. Hopefully, that's something that Robert is working on aside from the other projects that he's been involved with this year during the lockdown.

I also loved the intimation that he has other tapes that he recorded which makes sense....Heroin Face was from a 1977 show, rehearsal tapes from the same period on TIB Deluxe (Cocktail Party, Grinding would be cool if Robert took us behind the curtain so to speak....showed the actual cassettes, crude handwriting, etc. Genesis did something similar 15 years ago when they collected the various tapes from each band member....pictures of all the tapes in a gigantic flight case was pretty cool to see at that time.

Sure, the finished 1978 show will sound pretty crude....but with all of the tricks of the trade now (noise removal, crackle removal, advanced mastering plug-ins, etc.) I think the show will still sound okay...probably on par with the 1967 shows that Pink Floyd included on their big collection recently. I hope it's a reality fairly soon!

Shame he's getting involved in that RRHOF bollocks. Steve Miller was right.
