"My best friend was sleeping with our teacher" I know it's nitpicking but I would prefer the wording "our teacher was sleeping with my friend". So it doesn't sound like the friend was responsible in this situation. Also sad to hear she got grounded.

Okay. I want to put in my 2 cents for the situation as it is clear to me that some people here don't understand what the point of an "age of consent" is.

Punishing a child for this, can be very harmful. YES, you SHOULD teach a child what they did was wrong or harmful, HOWEVER, the way that you should do that is by supporting them and ensuring it won't happen.

I was assaulted at a very young age and when my mother found out, she banned me from ever being able to have a sleep over with anyone or going to anybody's houses.
This lead to a rather bare social life.
She also made repeated comments when I had friends over saying "keep your door open, we dont want a repeat if last time".
This all lead to me victim-blaming *myself* for 10 whole years.

If my mother had taught me how to stand up for myself in a different way, I wouldn't have spent 10 years blaming myself for the pain I experienced.

Even if you teach a child what is right or wrong, they can still be manipulated. That's the entire definition of manipulation.

Before anyone comments, my mother is by no means a bad person and didnt know that the way she was treating it was affecting me. When I told her, she apologized and we cried it out together. We are both victims of assault, and she was the same age as the victim mentioned in this video when it happened.

Whether it's force or grooming, the child is never at fault and it should not be punished, but corrected in other ways.
