Last year, Tropical Storm Eta made landfall south of the Cedar Key. As Tropical Storm Elsa crawls north along Florida's west coast, the Big Bend braces itself for another landfall.

As of the National Hurricane Center’s 8 a.m. update, Elsa was 115 miles north of Tampa and just 35 miles west of Cedar Key. Its winds were holding at 65 miles per hour as it moved north at 14 mph.

FOX 13 Tampa Bay brings you the important videos like breaking news, Tampa Bay weather, and local stories. But also plenty of fun stuff, like #WeLiveHere tips, the best of our archives, and all those 'only-in-Florida' stories.

The onsite reports really try to grasp onto any little nugget. Really try to over sell when there's nothing to see.

so… are all storms in florida just over exaggerated like this? im coming down to florida this summer for college and i was kinda nervous about the storms, but this doesnt seem that bad despite what the news stations are saying, for any native floridian who chances upon this comment, are the storms there all just super over exaggerated by the media? or do they actually get pretty bad?
