The Dreyfus affair was one of the greatest military scandals of the end of 19th century. Thanks to his wife & the famous writer of "Nana" Em. Zola, who fiercely supported him in the court and the french secret services, captain Dreyfus was later found 'not guilty', but the whole thing had seriously damaged his health. Last year I read the book, it was amazing. can't wait for the movie. Year of 1899 was full of antisemitism. In Austria [nowadays Czech Rep.] was similar cause against Leopold Hilsner.

I want to see this film so badly. But critics of Roman Polanski with very long memories are standing in the way of its release. I just hope that Criterion finally gets the rights to put this masterpiece on Blue Ray before Polanski dies.

without getting into conflicts here am just gonna say that The Life of Emile Zola from 1937 will be a much more appropriate film to watch it depicts the same event that is depicted in this film
