Got this tv in 43, IPS panel. Only read the reviews after buying but before unboxing so started to regret the purchase. Lots of users have issues with HDR and stuff. After opening it and updating the firmware, I couldn't be more happy. It's a fantastic tv. Love the design as well. The menus are not that slow for me, but could be because I barely have any app installed. Also found some picture calibration settings online which improved it even more. Regarding the issues reported by other users, eventually I'm an average tv user and the content I watch doesn't even have HDR. Netflix for example, I just have the basic plan which has HD, but no HDR. This to say the TV fits my use case and I would highly recommend it to anyone like me.

I bought a 65" PUS7304 5 months ago and I still love it, it might be a little chunky but it got all that I needed, dolby vision, dolby atmos, hdr, ambilight and good picture on a huge screen, perfect for my Xbox series S/ps4 pro ( ps5 in the near future when available )

Great review. I bought this TV yesterday, if I had heard about the stutter / slow menu in some situations before I bought it, that could've been a deal breaker actually.. but I got a great deal so no regrets :)

I would recommend this to anyone. Ambilight is really underrated. It gives the best lighting for you room both for movies and gaming. Input lag is not noticeable on current gen, but you will not get 4k 120hz because of the lack of HDMI 2.1. To be honest I do not care, if I can get a true 4k 60 Hz gaming experience I am more than happy. You won't fint many games that runs both. Also it supports and implements both HDR and Dolby vision really well. When you start watching with these standards you will never go back. It infinitely improves the picture. Let me know if you have any questions

Definitely considering this TV mainly because of the Ambilight feature as no other TV offers this visual experience.
For those who own this TV what are peoples thoughts now? Are you still happy with your purchase?

Why can´t they put a programmable hotkey to the remote? I´ve never even heard of this Rakuten or whatnot. At least have youtube button, as you said also :)

I honestly don't like most of the HDR vogue. I love watching movies, I love them to look like the movie did on 35mm in the old movie theater, I don't love them to look like a glossy magazine.
But enough, about this Philips: it's such a great allrounder for its money. And I love the Ambilight, that reminds of the glare of old projectors in the theater.
I think sound is a bit thin, but most of us have soundbars or surround sets anyway. So worth saving on that.
120hz and local dimming would had been nice, but just as better speakers this would had made the tv more expensive and for me it's not a deal breaker.
In the end I love that this tv still is build and finish what its brandname sugest. It's not like those low end Hitachi, Sharp or Grundig tvs that are black chinese plastic with a fancy brandname stamped on it!

Philips TV panels - IPS: 43, 55, 65 ", VA: 50, 58, 70" (The one series does not have a 55 "model in 2020)

Great video! I think I will buy 75 inch version, although I would prefer 85 inch but it is not possible. What hooked me for this TV is ambilight which looks beautiful, but also 400 nits of brightness (probably only in Vivid mode) which is very decent. I have Samsung Q60T which has around 460 nits so that should be almost the same. I don't care about HDR that much, I still think it is mostly gimmick (as 99% of content is not HDR and will probably never be)

Did you update the latest software? If yes, do you suddenly lack the subs button in the video player menu?

great video!. i have the old 6008 55" (Ambilight) from 2014 which has just now went down... no power
So think of repair vs. upgrade and this model (70") is the target.

Big question, is it good for gaming, for PS4 PRO and PS5?I`m about to get 58, and its primary for that and movie with stunning quality, is this the best choice for that price range, or you will recommend something else?

I had the PHILIPS 58PUS8545 and it only worked for 13 months. One night it suddenly quit outputting a picture. I was watching a 4ak blu ray on my Panasonic ub820 and I turned off the blu ray player but the TV just completely quit outputting an image. I disconnected all hdmi from the TV but it still wouldn't output a picture.

The picture was very good in the TV and the sound was very good when the TV worked.

Unlike the TV reviewed here the one I had was a va panel with very dark blacks but the shadows were crushed.

I did like the TV and I will buy another Philips Ambilight TV hoping that I just had a faulty TV from the factory. At the moment I'm using an LG TV though.

Liked and subscribed. Bought 43" 8535 yesterday. Great tv. I do miss being able to turn up and down the ambilight brightness like on the old 7000 series. But that's a minor gripe. Great review.
