PS2 Potentiometer Adjustment - Disk Read Error Fix

Yes I have done this video in the past, but it was quite horrible, and I have made it private. I hope you find this one much easier to follow along to.

Things to note:
-You'll need a Phillips screwdriver
-Do not go below a resistance of 725 Ohms on the DVD potentiometer
-Do not go below a resistance of 650 Ohms on the CD potentiometer

Great video, small note - if the laser adjustment screws are originally at 12 oclock position and you turn each to 2 oclock, that's 45 degrees difference, not 2 degrees

ps2 slim was only reading DVDs and not games or CDs. we followed the steps, but only tightened the screw marked "CD", and now our ps2 works perfectly.

Thank you. This absolutely fixed my PS2. I was trying for ages to get FreeDVDBoot to work (burnt to a DVD+R disc). I turned the potentiometer just a tiny bit (didn't use any measurements), and now the disc boots!

Thanks for this! I had wanted to play some old PS2 games, only come to find that my console wouldn't read 90% of my discs. This was the only fix that actually worked for me. 😭

My ps2 reads silver discs but not blue discs, does this mean I only have to adjust the CD screw and not the DVD screw or do I still need to adjust both screws?

This is the only one out of the 1000 vids I've watched to try and fix my 6 year old ps2 that actually DVD's worked just have to adjust the CD's to be able to play PS1 games again

Looks like I was able to fix mine PS2 by adjusting the DVD laser only (PS1 games worked fine), and it's good to know the resistance value, so you don't adjust blindly. Thanks

I can't thank you enough! I just bought a ps2 slim at a yard sale for $50, then spent another $40 on games and a memory card. I got home and it worked the first two times and then kept giving me disc read errors. I tried this out and was skeptical because I dont own a voltmeter but sure enough, it fixed the problem. thank you so much!
