Considering that Boruto was Sasuke's student to an extent, it would have made more sense for Momoshiki to do a Sasuke counter like that just with a different jutsu instead of fire, since boruto's body would have the muscle memory from Sasuke's teachings for a hand-to-hand counter like that.
