With a testing session coming up for my 68 Plymouth BARRACUDA drag car, I have recently swapped DRAG SLICKS that have a different diameter. I give you a quick and simple formula to calculate your new final Gear ratio(Effective Gear Ratio) when switching tire sizes!

Great information! Difference in two tires that should be the same could really cause problems! I've always took for granted that two of the same brand would be the same and now I know they may not be! Thanks for sharing the formula and this information Joe!

I just changed from the stock single leg 3:55 to the trac-lock with 3:90 huge difference!!! Great Video as always!!

Good video my man. Glad we are already at a 26” tire. We went from a 60 series front tire to a 50 and you will see soon how that helped with rollout on the line

Effective ratio..that is correct. Good Info.
Final gear ratio...or the gear ratio when the tire is squatting can change drastically with as little as 2psi of change. A hard planting suspension and low tire pressure can cause your effective gear ratio to change 2 full points. Changing your tire diameter up too 10 inches.

I had a set of slicks that were the same exact tires bought at the o time. One was little bigger. I had to run more air in one to make them the same. Because the front end jumped to one side a little when I launched it

Thanks Joe now I know how to figure out my effective ratio I went from 235/70-15 to 275/60-15 Mickey Thompson tires with a 3.90 rear gear stock was a 3.22 gear
