Ἐπεφάνης σήμερον τῇ οἰκουμένῃ, καὶ τὸ φῶς σου Κύριε, ἐσημειώθη ἐφ' ἡμᾶς, ἐν ἐπιγνώσει ὑμνοῦντάς σε. Ἦλθες ἐφάνης τὸ Φῶς τὸ ἀπρόσιτον.

On this day Thou hast appeared unto the whole world, and Thy light, O Sov’reign Lord, is signed on us who sing Thy praise and chant with knowledge: Thou hast now come, Thou hast appeared, O Thou Light unapproachable.

Glory to God! Let every breath praise the Lord! How blessed we are, as Orthodox Christians, in these dark times, darker than any the world has yet experienced, to have the Light of Christ, the True Light, the Light of Knowledge, the Light of the true Life, which is none other than Christ Himself! No one can take this Light away from us, unless we give it willingly. This is a great source of consolation for me personally, to know that no matter what happens, as St. John Goldenmouth says, "no one can harm the man that doesn't harm himself." We are impregnable as long as we remain in Christ.

"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.


Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
