OUROBOROS - Marimba Duo by Kyle Rappe

The symbol of Ouroboros: a serpent eating its own tail. It has its roots in ancient mythology and has been seen throughout the arts for centuries. Ouroboros is symbolic of cyclic events, typically pertaining to life, death, and even rebirth. The compositional crux of this piece is the use of non-retrogradable passages of varying sizes in order to capture a cyclic sensation. ‘Ouroboros’ was the 1st prize winner of the 2024 Universal Marimba Composition Competition.
