heave listened to this song 100's of times. NEVER sick of it, still loving and basking in every glorious note. Saw him perform it a dozen times - NO DRUMMER ever punctuated of addressed the subtleties of a horn arrangement the way this man did. He elevated the artform of Jazz drumming like no other. He understood the intricacies of supporting an arrangement like no other. THE ABSOLUTE KING OF KINGS!!! AMERICAN ROYALTY!!! AN ARTISTS ARTIST!!! (and I saw him smoking weed in his underwear in the lotus position in the dressing room of a club when I was a kid at a matinee - he drove off in a brand new Jaguar XKE with no license plates after the show :-) )

This is one of the greatest big-band cuts of all time. And from 3:40 to the end is interplanetary.

Saw Buddy at Lennie's on The Turnpike back in 1960. What an arrangement - what a drummer - the greatest!!!!

This is probably the best big band arrangement ever. Buddy's band in the late 60's and early 70's was at the top of his game. I also think he was one of the best to ever play the drums. All of his recordings are outstanding.

I was lucky to see the Buddy Rich Big Band on quite a few occasions here in the UK, he came over around February/ March each year for many years, Both he, and the band were always wonderful, it was a real privilege to see him play.

The band is in the pocket and then POW! At 3:23, they head for the stratosphere! After Rich's snare drum fill at 3:54, the audience goes wild! Amazing performance by all!

The drums were born to be played by Buddy!

The single stroke roll at 3:54 is ridiculous!!!. I saw Buddy play this classic numerous times live and it was always a high point of a Rich Concert. On occasion he would kick it off quicker than usual and myself plus most of the audience would all have the same thing on our minds....Will Buddy make the roll!!
I hardly need to confirm that he did.

The best big band recording ever. And whilst I am not always right, on this I am never wrong.

Rich and his band played this Pete Myers chart on Porter's " Love For Sale " for years, but this performance was electrifying! At 3:06, the entire ensemble seems to pulsate towards a stunning finish. Tight as tight can be! Rich even seems to be applauding with his bass drum at 4:36!
