Your the man dan. Do what feels right. My advice (not that it matters) is dont make big decisions while emotions are fresh, let things brew awhile. I made many decisions rushed while situations and emotions were fresh and it wasn’t the best route i could take. You have become my favourite youtuber i watch all your videos. Because of you i skate rails now and boardslide hurricane any double sider i can find.

I lasted 7 years living in LA before moving back home. I wanted to spend more time with family before they were gone. Glad I did. Cant get that time back

Been following you since the beginning bro, and couldn't be more stoked for you. You've brought a ton of happiness to so many lives through your content, and you deserve every bit of coziness you desire. Do what makes you happy brother, most of us will tune in no matter where you go. 👊🤙

I’m such a sucker for nostalgia too. I appreciate the transparency. I’m a recovering addict (15months clean) skating saved my life.. your videos inspired me to get clean and skate. Now I’m back in college to get substance abuse degree.

Don't let the fear of success creep in, you are doing a great job bringing joy to so many people you will never even meet.

Whatever you do I hope you continue to share it with us.
Your style of skating is one of my favorites but that's not the main reason I watch. Your level humor and witt is rare, it's that good, but still not the main reason. It's like whatever you do is entertaining. Maybe because you're open and honest and share yourself with us. I think every person is interesting but it rare that people brave genuine exposure to the public.
I know there's something good when I feel like you're one of the homies and I don't even know you.

Wow man.. I'm from Gettysburg and now in LA, for skating and surfing and recently went through the exact same thing... I went back indefinitely for the holidays for nostalgia/family and after a few months just decided to come back and am super glad to be back (maybe still in the honeymoon phase)... but it's eerie how identical your situation is... like I passed the baton

I feel you. I grew up in levittown PA and I sometimes get the feeling of like. I wanna move home. I live in Denver CO now and I love it here. I don't think I ever would want to go back. But sometimes it just comes at you missing the feeling of the area you grew up in. Sometimes its JUST me wanting to have a wawa near by again. Haha

Been watching you since your other channel had about 20k followers. I just realized what always brings me back to your channel other than skateboarding. You are a great story teller. It really is a gift. If you ever stop the other channel, I hope you continue on with this channel and continue to explore other ways to use your story telling abilities. Thanks for all the fun videos Dan. Good things ahead for you. Cheers

I've chased the dream of doing creative work full time. I've done it multiple times and every time I changed cities (3x, Baltimore to Houston, Houston to Austin, Austin to NYC) it was almost entirely starting over, but also motivating. But don't let the anxiety of failure guarantee self sabotage in what feels (now) like controlling your destiny but really it's just backing away from the rail but telling yourself "I know I can do it I just don't want to".

I haven't seen you since you moved out to Cali, but I will say, for someone who claims to not have any skills, you have always been well spoken, and whether we have agreed on something or not, I've always been so interested in listening to you talk, because you articulate so well. Hopefully we'll cross paths when you come back to MD/PA!

I know you're not gunna listen to some random dude's comment but... take it from someone who has moved across the country twice. Things change, people change. The nostalgia you're looking for is nostalgia for a reason. It's good to be connected with fam and be around them, but living your own life is sweet too. I hope you find happiness where ever you go.

This is a sick video, Dan. My wife and I moved out to the Dallas area for work from North Alabama about a decade ago. Just chasing the dream and trying to escape the rat race. Now we're here in the big city and contemplating going back to the small town. The allure of the city has worn off, and we could definitely push the money we make further with the lower cost of living.

Literally in the exact same boat right now and had a huge conversation with my friend about it in the car coming back from Linda Vista yesterday. I moved to LA 7 years ago from Michigan, just kinda dropped everything and decided to change it up. It's been hugely life changing for me and my career, my skating, my health, learning what's important, making real friends, the whole kit & caboodle. Now the luster is starting to wear off and I'm stuck missing my family, REAL life, seasons, being able to save money in a real way, seeking more than just purely fun and freedom. But idk where to go next. While I too crave nostalgia, nostalgia wears off faster than the urge to explore... especially as a skater who's been in dreamland for 5+ years. What really gave me perspective, was going back to Michigan for 10 days, and trying to push nostalgia aside and try to view the area as if I was living and working there. What it felt like to be there, eat there, skate there, explore there, etc. Then I did the same to Chicago the next week, then Denver, and it really gave me a lot of perspective. It might be a good idea to do that in the other places you're mentioning. Visit as a local and pretend you live there. Feel what excites and inspires you to potentially live there, because you're the one that's going to be there, day in and day out.

And p.s. I know you said your YouTube will probably be paused and you'll go back to construction. But don't forget everything you've learned and the connections you have. Every city needs a great ramp builder, and you already have a solid foundation.

If it’s broke don’t fix it. If you enjoy the YT gig, try to think of ways to make sure you can keep it going outside of skateboarding. Many people enjoy your personality, and your take on skateboarding. What do you want long term in your life? I think visiting home is a great idea. Try to plan trips for yourself every 4 months to visit home. Don’t give up your dream. It kind of seems like you believe what you have right now is to good to be true, and your just waiting for the inevitable crash. You should continue to grow brother. You’re great at what you do. Whatever you decide, I hope you find happiness.

I’m aware that a lot of people are secular but the truth is you’ve been blessed Dan and it doesn’t matter how anybody judges what I’m saying. It’s just if you acknowledge our Creator and Him shining His light on your life then you’ll have even more added to you as opposed to watching dreams fade away. Just a word to the wise and I’ve watched you enough to know that you’re witty and intelligent in a non conventional sense. Which convention shouldn’t be the set standard anyway
