"The Pink Panther Theme" is an instrumental composition by Henry Mancini written as the theme for the 1963 film The Pink Panther and subsequently nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Score at the 37th Academy Awards but lost to the Sherman Brothers for Mary Poppins. The eponymous cartoon character created for the film's opening credits by David DePatie and Friz Freleng was animated in time to the tune. The tenor saxophone solo was played by Plas Johnson. The song was included on the film's soundtrack album and issued as a single (in the United States) in 1964; the single reached the Top 10 on the U.S. Billboard adult contemporary chart and won three Grammy Awards.

The walking bass on the chorus is crazy!

This is exactly how Pink Panther should be played on the guitar.

I've only ever heard two perfect guitar transcriptions: Richard Smith's The Entertainer and this

Always amazes me when guitarists use their right hand as 5 picks. Having used a pick all my life I can only do metal/rock solo kind of stuff, but this guy sounds like 2 guitars at once, which is every guitar player’s dream

Nothing like being able to play all the lead, as well as the bass

I have been studying and playing classical guitar for over 50 years, and this arrangement and performance is truly a masterpiece. Bravo! Henry would be so pleased.

These jazzers are from another planet…this genius is playing rhythm, lead, bass and percussion al at once all at the same time . And he looks cool, handsome and well dressed…what a bastard! 😅

As of this moment there are 122 thumbs down. I am curious as to what part of this would make anyone want to give it a thumbs down. I guess maybe because it was so good and enjoyable that it reminded them of their shortcomings.

The Pink Panther Theme was written in the key of E minor. Henry Mancini intended it for his saxophone soloist Plas Johnson. This guitar rendition is by far the best version I’ve ever heard. In a typical band setup, the bass is the least noticed, it is the most noticed in this guitar arrangement. Bravo for a great performance! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Possibly one of the worlds greatest guitarists right there. I can only see Satriani or EVH exceeding that kind of talent.

WOW... twice wonderful... for the incredible performance and interpretation and for taking me to a wonderful past that was my childhood.

That he keeps the baseline going in perfect time always amazes me in these great fingerstyle players. Tommy Emmanuel said he rehearses a new piece hundreds of times before he performs it. It looks like these guys do it easily, but it takes hours of hard work.
