Julian Newman vs. Jaythan Bosch was one of the most talked about youth basketball matchups of all time…

This was more than just any regular matchup – it became an iconic moment in social media-driven basketball culture.

In 2017, Julian Newman was on top of the world. He was just 15 years old, and had not faced any real competition yet. His mixtapes were going viral all over YouTube with his flashy handles and incredible talent for a kid his age…

The immense amount of talent as a pre-teen allowed for Julian to completely take over youth basketball, which in turn led to lots of arrogance shown in his game with ridiculous antics and cocky trash talk…

But everything changed at the 2017 NEO Youth Elite camp when a relatively unknown kid from New Hampshire named Jaythan Bosch went toe-to-toe against the biggest youth basketball prodigy of the time.

In this video, we’re going to break down how Jaythan Bosch not only held his own with one of the most talked-about players in the country, but also how he exposed and humbled one of the most popular and arrogant basketball phenoms of all time.

Why isn't "throwing the ball at a players face" a technical foul?

Newman is everything wrong with youth basketball.

Jaythan Bosch is humble and makes his shots. Can play defense and is a great example of a good player

Julian's father imprinted his Napoleon complex onto his son and created a spoiled, entitled monster. I don't blame Julian, his dad did the same thing with both Newman siblings.

Imagine spending your ENTIRE youth focusing on basketball…

Just to be clowned on social media your whole adult life.

Sacrificed a childhood, just to be mocked in adulthood. Damn lol. That’s brutal

Let's not forget that Bosch is about a year younger than Newman. Difference between 14-15 is huge for boys at that age. Newman reached his adult height at 5'7", while for Bosch is 6'0".

Humbled? Not only did Jaythan humbled him, he took Julian out of the picture. A quote by John C. Maxwell, “ There are two kinds of pride, both good and bad. Good pride represents our dignity and self-respect. Bad pride is the deadly sin a superiority that reeks of conceit and arrogance.” Unfortunately for Julian, he found out this, late. Good luck to both though.

This is why people like "The Professor" will never be successful in a real basketball league. Fundamentals > Flash. Congratulations, Newman. You peaked in middle school. What a life!

Ppl complaining about kids shooting to far outside because of Steph. But absolutely carrying on every dribble is street ball, not serious ball at higher levels that demand team play, not individual talent

No room for cockiness in sports. Humble players will always outshine such acts.

That buzzer beater move was off the chain nice.

It's sad that kids like Julian were not taught proper fundamentals of the game and sportsmanship. Everytime he was dribbling and trying to show off he was carrying the ball and actual referees would hopefully call him on it.

How everyone thinks that’s ok to hit someone in the face with the ball, what kind of skill is that.
