I really appreciate your honesty because you know you could totally get away with telling the customer that the screen got damaged because of the water and the customer won’t be any of the wiser

Cell phone repair tech here! I was JUST talking about this with my coworker earlier today. As time goes on, the adhesive between screen and the plastic frame is going to become weaker than the adhesive between the frame and the body of the phone, resulting in a LOT of screen breakage. This will also start to happen right around the time batteries will need to start being replaced making everything way more expensive...

I work for UBIF we already have measures if customers pull a fast one. If it’s watered damaged it’s most likely cooked the screen 90% of the time. If they want us to fix it some damage may occur. Water can even cause the frame to loosen from the screen and separate. We’ve had customers ask for us To pay for the screen but we practically put the device in the heat pad and all cameras are fogged up with water so we let them know that there’s no way to go around the screen. We just ask them to get a new phone and do a data transfer before this thing dies out since it’s unpredictable. It’s all about talking to the customer and letting them know that either nothing is affected or something is. It’s crazy how many customers correct us that the phone is water proof (It’s water resistant lol)

Yup..tbh, when this happens, most of the customers will be saying it’s the tech fault even we didn’t proceed fully opened. And yes the issue can cause lightsaber and worse, blank display.

I swam with my unprotected iphone 12 pro in my pocket for 10 minutes in saltwater and the only bad thing is that in some positions the cable doesnt charge it

This is why I personally use razor blades, never had an issue where the screens separate from the plastic. I have my co workers and bosses always ask me to open anything above a 12 because they’re too “scared” including when my boss was doing a housing swap on his 14PM

Good day,

My mother had an S6 Edge+ some years ago, and we recently stumbled upon it amongst some old belongings. Unfortunately, it appears to be completely unresponsive, and I am unsure where to begin. Given that the device is nearly nine years old and local repair shops no longer cater to it, I would greatly appreciate your advice on how best to proceed.

While I am only 16 and possess limited tools myself, my father has a substantial collection that I might be able to utilise.

Thank you for your outstanding content—your videos are truly a delight to watch.

Edit: It DOES get warm when put on charge

Phone tech myself and had this happen on two 14 pro max’s I was fixing, the screen separated from the frame I had to peel off the Face ID sensor whilst it was on the phone with little to no room on both I managed to do it and glue a new frame to both displays and they works perfectly including Face ID still but yeah super stressful stuff 😂

Screen is probably ruined already, but you never know! Water damage does strange things. 😅 Definitely not worth the risk to keep pulling especially on that model.
Favorite solution is usually *very carefully* using a razor blade slid down between the plastic frame and the metal housing. Even a cheap blade is much thinner than most iSeasamo-style tools. The idea is to simultaneously push the clips inwards and the frame upwards -- similar to how most people open an iPod Classic. Definitely a risk of scratches, and cracks can occur with too much uneven force, but certainly better than unscheduled display refurbishing 😂

Well he’s got no other choice! What good is a good screen on a dead phone, I’d just continue fixing it, the screens probably bad anyways
